Start & Finish

The Start and Finish

The race will start from Ivinghoe Beacon -what3words location here. This is the true start of the Ridgeway National Trail, a beautiful and iconic place to begin the event as was historically the case. The only downside is that it is a 1200m walk from registration, so you will need to ensure you are registered by 0930 at the latest, per the schedule. At that time, marshals will lead the walk up to the beacon where we will have a short race briefing and get off at 1000 prompt.

Registration is at Steps Hill Car Park here and is open from 0800 until 0930.Bibs and trackers will be collected on race day, not posted out in advance. Drop and Finish Line bag facilities will be open for you to drop your bags at the start and toilets are available.

Parking for everyone is in the Ivinghoe Beacon Car Park nearly opposite (what3words location here). Please note these are all close to each other and everything will be signed and marshalled on the day.

If you are arriving by train, we will run a shuttle bus from Tringtrain station from 0800 to 0930 (last departure). Please wait at the front of the train station by the taxi rank. There is no need to book this.

The race finish is at Avebury Sports and Social Club, Beckhampton Road, Avebury, SN8 1RD.

Runners will leave the Ridgeway, just above Avebury, and follow the clear race signage down into Avebury village, before heading around the perimeter of the sports pitches to finish in front of the Club there.

Parking for supporters is at the Sports and Social Club, but also on the cricket pitches behind. Signage will make it clear on arrival, where to park.

Please under no circumstances park on the road at Avebury. Even if you are just collecting your runner or bags.

Please note that Avebury is a very popular tourist attraction, especially on a bank holiday. We rely on the use of the Social Centre as simply without it the event will be in jeopardy. Local authorities take special interest in our event making sure parking terms and conditions are adhered to.
